“You never know who your gatekeeper is going to be,” is a sentiment Phil Mizuno’s mom always says.
With this constantly echoing in
his head, this up and coming Canadian-native cosplayer followed his heart and is pursuing his passion to empower others through positivity and creativity.
At age 22, Phil attended Anime North, his first convention, in Toronto, Ontario. The excitement and positive energy from the convention enthralled him, but it would be 3 years before he had a chance to attend another show. This time, he cosplayed. Initially, Phil was going to cosplay just once to check it off on his bucket list; little did he know, he would fall in love with the creation process, and how
it made him feel. He loved it. Cosplay has since become a huge fragment of his life that inspires him to push creative boundaries and open up to the world.
At age 27, Phil has been able to share his cosplay with people from all around the world. With over 65,000 fans on his social media platforms and a few appearances under his belt, he is able to connect and influence people from all corners of the earth. With
his warming charisma and charm, he wants to help others become more comfortable with both the cosplay world and themselves.
Throughout 2015 and 2016, he has had the privilege of being a cosplay guest at conventions in both Canada and the United States. He has helped host / MC, and run panels for special events as well. The underlying motif of all of his appearances, speeches and meet and greets is this: chasing your dreams can lead you to opportunities you never thought were possible.
Phil currently lives and creates his beautiful cosplays in Toronto, Ontario. He dreams of attending more conventions in both Asia and the United States. He is currently working hard to develop his YouTube channel and start his own Patreon page to bring more intimate and meaningful content to his followers.
